Brotherly Love
… raiders … had taken captive a young girl … and she served Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet … ! He would cure him of his leprosy.”
2 Kings 5:2-3 (NIV)
This week we learn about phileo or brotherly love. A type of love like that between good friends or siblings. Watch the video below to learn more!
Memory Verse:
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
ROMANS 12:10

Going Further
Hi Everyone! A couple of ideas for family activities after watching the video:
1) Read/Review 2 Kings 5: 1-27 (NIV)
2) Family Time.
- In today’s story, we learned about phileo love. Remember that phileo, or brotherly love, is when we love our friends and treat them like family. We take care of them without expecting anything in return. Did you know that love is actually an action word. In other words, you show them that you love them by doing nice things for them – giving or serving. Who, in the story, demonstrated phileo love? Who didn’t? What makes you come up with that answer? Can you think of something that you can do for a friend or neighbor that shows phileo love?
- Today’s “Word of the Week” is “grace.” Watch the video together. Jesus loves us so much that He not only forgives our sins but took the punishment for them so that we can go to Heaven and be with Him forever. That’s amazing grace! Can you think of a time that someone showed you grace when you didn’t deserve it? Can you think of a time when you showed someone else grace? Can you think of a time when you should have shown someone grace but didn’t?
- Draw a two-sided picture of Naaman. On one side, put some “leprosy” spots on Captain Naaman. On the other side, leave the spots off. Glue the figure to a popsicle stick. Draw some water on a sheet of paper and cut a slit in it. Use the spotted figure (with leprosy) to dip into the water six times by pushing the stick through the slit. On the seventh time, use the unspotted figure to pop up out of the water. Use this time to discuss key points of the story with your child.
- Pray together as a family.
3) Activities.
- Draw a picture about today’s lesson, or color the printable coloring sheet (see below), take a picture and send it to Pastor Shaun so that it can be shared in next week’s video.
- Scroll down to the music videos and sing along.
- Have fun using the activities below.
