Thanksgiving

Gratefulness

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)

This week we reflect on things for which we are grateful, or said another way, thankful. Watch the video below to see a few people express a heart of gratefulness as they share!

Memory Verse:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

His love endures forever.

PSALM 136:1 (NIV)

Going Further

Hi Everyone! A couple of ideas for family activities after watching the video:

1) Read/Review: Philippians 4:6.

2) Family Time:

  • Discussion: Discuss what Philippians 4:6 says is the benefit of praying with a thankful heart. Talk about and write down some things you can be thankful for as a family. Pray together, thanking God for the list you made and add others as you pray. Then bring your requests before Him. Discuss helping each other to remember to come to God with a thankful heart when you pray.
  • Activity: 1) Make “grateful” place mats. Print out and glue each family member’s picture to a large (11 X 17 if available) sheet of paper. Add other decorations if desired. Have each family member write on other family members’ place mats reasons they are thankful for that person. 2) Using your hand as a pattern, draw a picture of a turkey. On each feather, write something to be grateful for. Decorate and color the picture. 3) Pray together as a family. Is there someone in your family who has not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior?
