Patience Wk 1

Patience

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.

Romans 5:3-4 (TLB)

This week we start our new series for the month regarding the importance of developing the Godly character quality of patience. (Waiting for God’s perfect timing.) Watch the video below to learn more.

Memory Verse:

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…

Going Further

Hi Everyone! A couple of ideas for family activities after watching the video:

1) Read/Review: Genesis 12:1-6, 15:4-5, 17:17, 21:1-7

2) Family Time:

  • Discussion: Do you remember that just a short time ago, we had another lesson about Sarah, Abraham, and Isaac? Do you remember that we were learning about the fruit of joy that time? Now we’re learning about patience. Can you tell me how patience and joy go together? Now that you have heard this story twice, can you tell the story to your parents, brothers, sisters, friends? Can you think of a time when someone was really patient with you? Can you think of a time when you knew that you weren’t doing something God wanted you to, but He was really patient with you? How does that make you feel? Can you think of a time when you needed to demonstrate patience with someone else? Do you feel like you were patient with them? Remember that being patient includes waiting for God’s timing and not your own. Pray together and ask God to help you to be patient. Remember – when you pray for something like patience, God will sometimes give you situations where you get to practice being patient. So be ready! If you start to get upset, pray and ask God to help you to be patient in the situation.
