Patience Wk2

Patience

Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

Ephesian 4:2 (TLB)

This week we continue with our new series for the month regarding the importance of developing the Godly character quality of patience. (Waiting for God’s perfect timing.) Watch the video below to learn more.

Memory Verse:

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

EPHESIANS 4:2 NIV

Going Further

Hi Everyone! A couple of ideas for family activities after watching the video:

1) Read/Review: Job

2) Family Time:

  • Discussion: What are some things that Job lost? How did Job demonstrate patience and longsuffering in this story? Have you ever been in a situation where someone you trusted, unfairly blamed you for something? How did you respond? We learn that sometimes bad things happen to good people. Did the scriptures tell us why Job suffered? Have you ever suffered because of a situation you did not cause? Did you ask God why? In Job 42: 3, what did Job say that shows he is being humble, acknowledging that God is in control, and that he’s sorry for questioning God. We all get impatient sometimes. When we tell God we’re sorry and that we trust Him, even if we don’t understand, that shows that we’re growing in our patience!
  • Activity1: Create a sad-face/happy-face picture of Job. Draw a line down the middle. At the top of the left-hand side, draw a sad face. At the top of the right-hand side, draw a happy face. On the left-hand side, draw a picture of what Job lost. On the right-hand side, draw a picture of what he gained when God blessed him again. (Hint: check out Job 1 and 2, and 42).
  • Activity2: Use the following acrostic or create your own. Make a poster and decorate it.
    • P ray continually
    • A ccept correction
    • T olerate with a smile
    •  I mitate Jesus
    • E nthusiastically listen
    • N ever roll your eyes
    • C ommit to joyfully waiting
    • E xpress gratefulness
  • Pray together as a family: Is there someone in your family who has not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior?
