Kindness

The local people showed us extraordinary kindness. They lit a fire and took us all in, since it was raining and cold.

Acts 28:2 (CSB)

Is it enough to be nice? Or, should we strive to show extraordinary kindness to others in need? Watch the video below to learn how kindness was demonstrated when Jesus was at a well.

Memory Verse:

But when the time came for the kindness and love of God our Savior to appear, then He saved us, not because we were good enough to be saved, but because of His kindness. . .

TITUS 3:4, 5a TLB

Going Further

Hi Everyone! A couple of ideas for family activities after watching the video:

1) Read/Review: John 4:7-14

2) Family Time:

  • Discussion: How did Jesus show kindness to the woman at the well by asking her for a drink? Jews believed Samaritans were beneath them and did not speak to them. Some Jews would not even enter the town of Samaria. Also, many thought that it was not acceptable for a man to talk to a woman. Why do you think Jesus spoke to her? Do you think He cared more about what others thought or about the souls of the woman and all the Samaritans? (Of course, He knew she would tell others she thought He was the Christ!) Have you ever been in a situation where you had a choice to be kind to someone who wasn’t accepted by others? What did you do?

  • Activity2: Use the following acrostic or create your own. Make a poster and decorate it.
    • K ind deeds without being asked
    •  I nitiative to look for ways to be kind
    • N eighborly in all circumstances
    • D ecent toward everyone
    • N oble – forgiving and humble
    • mpathetic for the sick and injured
    • S incere in helping others
    • S erve with a smile
  • Definition of KINDNESS: showing others you value them through thoughtful actions and words. Is it easy to be kind to someone who has been mean to you or to a beggar on the street? Maybe God prompts you to write a letter or call a grandparent. Your kind deed may be all someone needs to know that someone loves them.
  • Pray together as a family: Is there someone in your family who has not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior?
