“It’s what’s on the inside that counts” We teach this to our kids as we talk about their choices in friendship and dating, but can we ever really be sure? The truth is, the motives of others can never be fully known. To go farther, how well do we even know our own motives? We are experts at assuming the best in ourselves, even when we see the worst in others. Jesus is calling us to give our motives the attention they deserve. He tells us that the best rewards come not from doing the right things, but from the right heart.
