Life groups are an integral part in fulfilling HCC’s mission to “Love God completely; Love people in community; and Make disciples contagiously.” Our vision for our life groups is to bring glory to God by helping each other become more like Jesus Christ. This vision becomes real in people’s lives through members “doing life together” – – having a shared responsibility to help each other mature in Christ (Ephesians 4:12-16). Our aim is to build strong relationships and to care practically for each other, so that we can “spur each other on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24-25). We believe this happens best in a small group setting. Life group members are there for each other as they wrestle with life. Bible study, prayer and mutual care are all critical components of a typical meeting, but groups don’t meet together to “do a Bible study” or “to care for one another” or “to have a prayer time.” They meet together for personal growth and disciple-making, to be transformed into the likeness of Christ for the sake of his kingdom. This shared faith in Christ gives members not just a sense of belonging, but also a real sense of invested involvement in one another’s lives.
