Gentleness
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
EPHESIANS 4:2
This week we learn of gentleness through the teaching of Jesus. He told us to come to Him … learn from Him … He is gentle and humble in heart. He later showed an example of washing the disciples’ feet – gentleness is tied to humility. Jesus told us to go and do likewise. By following His example of serving with gentleness and humility, He gives us rest for our soul – exactly opposite of what the world tells us to do. Going Further
Hi Everyone! A couple of ideas for family time after watching the video. We get to demonstrate gentleness toward others out of love, just as God does toward us. Let’s purpose to be gentle toward others.
Family Time:
- Read/Review: Matthew 11:28-30 and John 13:1-16
- Activity: Use the following acrostic or create your own. Make a poster and decorate it.

- E – ENCOURAGING
- S – SENSITIVE
- S – SYMPATHETIC
- Definition of GENTLENESS: Showing personal care and concern in meeting the needs of others, especially those who are defenseless. Choosing not to use size, or position of authority, to exercise power over someone else in a mean way. Not instilling fear in those under your authority, so that they can approach you if they are in need.
- Pray together as a family: Is there someone in your family who has not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior?
